We volunteer at events like Relay for Life and the Los Angeles River Cleanup, a local shelter for women and children, and many others.
What you may not know is that every week, we choose a non-profit that is in alignment with our goal, tithe and make a donation to that organization.
(What is a tithe? Read our blog posts on tithing and prosperity.)
We involve our members in the process by providing a Giving Basket where members can submit the names of non-profits that need donations. Members simply fill out the name of the charitable non-profit organization and put it in the basket. Every week we draw a name for the donation.
Recently our Board of Trustees decided that we needed to make the Giving Basket more visible, and someone recommended that we go to our Youth, Tween and Teen ministries for help. Our Tween ministry volunteer Lissa Moreno stepped up to the task and spent two Sundays with the Tweens creating a new Giving Basket.
To create the new Giving Basket, the Tweens talked about different organizations that help others. They drew pictures , wrote the names of various charities, and literally wove them into the fabric of our giving basket. The result is truly something to be proud of!
The Tweens got to be creative, and, in the process, they learned about the concept of charitable giving and discussed what kind of organizations exist to help others and rely on charitable giving.
Center for Spiritual Living Granada Hills is excited to continue our efforts in giving back to our community, which, through our members and member donations, reaches local businesses around us, our local schools and community organizations, spreading out to the Greater Los Angeles area, other states and even other countries. We are so grateful to our members who tithe and donate to us so that we can give back!
Some the of charitable organizations CSLGH has made donations to recently include:
