Rev. Dr. Mike McMorrow, Spiritual Director

Reverend Dr. Mike McMorrow was born August 28, 1956, in Cambridge England to his English mother and Irish father. One of seven children, he spent most of his formative years at Edwards Air Force Base in California, where his father was stationed in the Air Force.

In his youth he was an altar boy, athlete, and Boy Scout. He attended Sierra College in Rocklin, California, and worked as a carpenter and contractor in the Pacific Northwest and Southern California.

Rev. Mike discovered the Center of Spiritual Living Granada Hills in 2002 as he was going through a divorce. He began taking Science of Mind classes and, under the direction of Rev. Dr. Maureen Hoyt, became a licensed Practitioner of Religious Science and then a Religious Science Minister.

He became Assistant Minister to Dr. Maureen in 2007, and in 2009 when Dr. Maureen was recruited to another church, Rev. Mike was elected Pastor to the Center and became its Spiritual Director. He was ordained by CSL in October 2012.

In 2020, Rev. Mike published his first book, "Blue-Collar Spirituality: Finding a God that Works". In addition to his work with Centers in the region, you can sometimes find him speaking or teaching classes based on the lessons shared in this book.

During the Sunday Service on October 31, 2021, Rev. Dr. Maureen Hoyt announced that Rev. Mike had been given the additional title of "Doctor". "The Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree is conferred to ordained Ministers within Centers for Spiritual Living who have demonstrated outstanding ministerial performance, ongoing financial support for their Member Community and the organization, excellence in their lives and ministry, and who have a long and distinguished ministry within one (1) or more Member Communities as well as long and distinguished service to the organization."

Mike continues to “sharpen the saw” through continuing education in church management and spiritual development. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie, son Michael (when he’s in town), and fishing in the High Sierra with his brothers whenever they can get together.
